Hidden Heros

Paul writes in Colossians 3, set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  Hidden.  Hidden with Christ.  A profound mystery that Christ works in you, through you, abides in you, you in Him, to bring about His gracious work in a broken world.

This series is all about the hidden heroes of the faith.  The overlooked.  The forgotten.  The unheard of.  The average Joes.  The other guys.  The ordinary folks whom God works through to bring about His grace and promises in a broken world.  There is a high likelihood that some of these characters that were covering the next several weeks are people in the Bible you may have not even heard of.  No King Davids, No Moseses or Elijahs, no St Peters or Pauls, no popular people.  Simply the hidden heroes.

Why?  First, this is a great chance to expand our knowledge of stories in the scriptures.  Secondly,  Even in the hidden heroes the person and promises of Jesus Christ are made known.  These characters will point us to Christ.  Jesus says the scriptures all of them, testify about me.  This series will increase our capacity to see Jesus even in small stories.  And lastly, do you feel overlooked?  Do you feel unnoticed?  Do you feel forgotten?  Simply another number hidden in the crowd of people on Earth?  That’s exactly where God wants you.  Your life is hidden with Christ in God. You’re His hidden people.  His hidden undercover agents bringing about His gracious work in a broken world.  In your ordinary everyday vocations there is Christ bringing about the Father’s good purposes in you and through you.
