In 2000, Memorial began an outreach ministry in the Loomis Gym. It was a weekly wellness clinic that provided basic medical care to the community. The Christ Clinic ministry expanded until it relocated in 2007 to its own facility, and then became an independent, non-profit organization in 2012.

“We opened in the gym with a box of donated materials, created exam rooms with rolling screens and rolled shelving units into the kitchen to be our pharmacy,” said Ray Fritz, co-founder of Christ Clinic originally located at Memorial Lutheran Church of Katy at 2810 Third St. “We only had a handful of people in October 2000 that first night and we were only open one night a week for many years.”
