Blood Drive

We’re looking for lots of donors to take part in this life-saving ministry. We know schedules are full, but a small amount of your time can make a big difference for someone in need.

The donation teams from the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center have been so wonderful—friendly, efficient, and ready to make the process simple and comfortable. There are also lots of great snacks!

All donors will receive a free T-shirt and an A1C pre-diabetes screening as a thank-you. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are always welcome!

Blood Drives Aren’t Just for Adults

Last Summer at the LCMS Youth Gathering, youth participants engaged in a blood drive, demonstrating the impactful role our youth can play in community service. By participating in our blood drive, youth can continue this tradition of service, embody the spirit of the Gathering, and make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. Here are a few things to know…

Donor Eligibility Requirements

  • Minimum Age: Donors must be at least 16 years old on the day of donation.
  • Weight Requirements:
    • 16-year-olds must weigh at least 122 pounds.
    • 17–18-year-olds must weigh at least 115 pounds for males and 120 pounds for females.
  • Health Status: Donors should be in good general health.
  • Parental Consent: Individuals who are 16 years old require written parental consent to donate.

Additional Preparation Tips

  • Pre-Donation Care: Encourage participants to get a good night’s rest, eat a hearty, iron-rich meal, and drink plenty of fluids before donating.
  • Identification: Remind donors to bring a valid picture ID to the donation site.
  • Donation Process: The entire donation process typically takes about one hour, including check-in, wellness screening, donation, and post-donation rest, which includes some great snacks.

The event is finished.
