The Scripture tells us that “We do not have a high priest [talking about Jesus] who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15) And again, “ Because He himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”
Temptations are a very real part of our lives. They were also a very real part of Jesus’ life. And at no time did Jesus face more temptations than he did in the hours of his passion, suffering, and death.
This Lent, we will take a closer look at the temptations Jesus faced when he was most vulnerable and learn from Him so that we might follow his ways when we face the same. And one of the things we learn is the power of “not” to guide us to Him and to a victory over what tempts us.
